More improvements

January 12th, 2008

This weekend I updated the look of the header, and made the navbar for the About Us page. I also cleaned up the WordPress page titles, wrote to some people about using their pictures on the site, met an awesome internet entrepreneur in a Ducati dealership who gave me some very positive advice, and sat in a Cobra at an exotic car rental dealership.

Long weekend before the launch

January 12th, 2008

Today I’m working on the favicon (the little icon that shows up in the address bar of the browser next to the URL), and fixing the links in the header for News and Products pages.

PayPal compatibility is coming this weekend, so customers can use that as well as Google Checkout. I’m also updating the Google button in the shopping cart to add attributes (So people can select Red or Blue Nalgene bottles, not just a “Nalgene bottle.”

Over the past few days I’ve worked a lot as well.

On Wednesday and Thursday, I worked feverishly to add attributes to the products by linking two databases together. One database holds all the products and the information about them, and the other database has the various attributes the products can have. Here is the shopping cart tutorial I used for this site, and this is the example cart. A lot of changes then, eh?

On Friday, I was lucky enough to iron out a few bugs on the “Reviews” page, and become an Amazon affiliate, so when there are great products that America Delivered isn’t yet big enough to carry, interested parties will at least be able to go to other sellers to find them.
